Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for patients considering care, current patients, and people exploring integrative psychiatry.

Appointments, Fees & Insurance

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance availability may vary by appointment type and booking pathway. Some appointments may be private-pay or out-of-network, while insurance-based appointments may be available through partner platforms. Please review the Fees & Insurance page or contact the office for current details.

What are your fees?

Fees depend on appointment type, length, and whether care is scheduled directly or through an insurance partner. The Fees & Insurance page provides the most current information about private-pay rates, out-of-network reimbursement, superbills, and insurance options.

Do you offer telehealth?

Telehealth may be available for patients located in Connecticut, depending on clinical appropriateness, licensing requirements, and appointment type.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

In-person appointments may be available in West Hartford, Connecticut, depending on scheduling and clinical needs.

What happens during the first appointment?

The first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. It usually includes discussion of current concerns, mental health history, medical history, medications, prior treatment, family history, substance use, lifestyle, goals, and treatment options.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Do you offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy?

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy may be considered for selected patients after a full psychiatric evaluation, screening, and informed consent process. It is not appropriate for everyone and is not offered as a stand-alone quick intervention.

Can I become a patient just for ketamine?

Ketamine is considered within the context of broader psychiatric care. A full evaluation is required before determining whether ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is appropriate.

Psychiatric Care & Treatment

Do you provide therapy?

Yes. Dr. Zelisko provides psychotherapy as part of psychiatric care when clinically appropriate. Treatment may include psychotherapy, medication management, lifestyle recommendations, and broader integrative treatment planning.

Do you prescribe medication?

Yes. Medication may be recommended when appropriate after a psychiatric evaluation. Medication decisions are made collaboratively and are based on symptoms, diagnosis, treatment history, risks, benefits, and patient goals.

Do you treat ADHD?

Dr. Zelisko evaluates and treats focus-related concerns, including ADHD when clinically appropriate. Evaluation includes a careful review of symptoms, history, functioning, sleep, anxiety, mood, substance use, and other factors that can affect attention.

Do you prescribe stimulants?

Stimulant medication is considered only after a comprehensive evaluation and when clinically appropriate. Requests for specific medications do not guarantee that they will be prescribed.
